Hello & Welcome to MSP
Hi I’m Lynn!
I migrated to Australia in 2015 from the Seychelles and I’m a Registered Psychologist and the Founder of Morning Star Psychology (MSP). Over the past decade, I have worked locally in Mackay across a range of settings, including non-government organisations, private and public schools, and private practice.
I began my academic journey in England, completing both a Bachelor’s and Honours degree in Psychology at the University of Exeter. I later continued my professional training in Australia, earning a Master of Psychology (Community) from Edith Cowan University in Perth. This combination of international education and community-focused training has shaped my holistic and culturally responsive approach to psychological practice.
I’m a member of the Australian Association of Psychologist Inc. (AAPI) and the Australian Psychological Society (APS).
I’m trained in a range of evidence-based therapeutic approaches, including EMDR, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused CBT, Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and Play Therapy. I have also completed specialised training to facilitate several structured, evidence-based group programs, including LEGO®-Based Therapy, Seasons for Growth, Cool Kids Program, and 1-2-3 Magic & Emotion Coaching.
I’m currently completing the Board Approved Supervisor Training at Deakin University.
Additionally, I’m a bookworm, love the sea, love learning and growing both professionally and personally. I’m a huge fan of Home & Away, true crime shows and documentaries. Most importantly I’m a wife, mum, step-mum, daughter, sister and a valued friend to many.
At Morning Star Psychology, my goal is to be the person I would have loved to have walking alongside me when I first moved to Mackay as a single mum to my then 11-year-old daughter. Navigating life in a new country and being a mum during a tricky transition with minimal support. I bring wholehearted commitment and unconditional positive regard to a safe, inclusive therapy space.
An island girl at heart, I feel most at peace by the ocean. In my spare time, I enjoy going to the beach, watching rugby union & rugby league and spending quality time with family and friends.
My mantra in life is “I never lose. Either I win or I learn.”
